| The Soldier’s Final Test |
During a time of war, a young soldier called his parents with a voice filled with hope and longing.
“I’m coming back home,” he said.
His parents were overwhelmed with happiness. Excitedly, they asked, “When will you arrive?”
He replied, “I’ll be there tomorrow. But I want to bring a fellow soldier with me. He lost one leg and is blind. I want him to live with us as a member of our family.”
Instead of compassion, his mother reacted with anger.
“No,” she said firmly, “don’t bring him here. We don’t need more problems in our house.”
“I was that soldier… I just didn’t want to bring problems into our home.”
The call ended.
Days passed, but their son never returned. Concern slowly turned into fear. The parents searched everywhere—contacting authorities, asking around, and holding onto hope.
Weeks later, they finally received information: their son was living with a poor old man in the same city.
Without wasting time, they rushed to the location and knocked on the door.
The door opened.
Standing before them was their son.
But he was blind… and he had only one leg.
Shocked and speechless, they stared at him as tears filled his eyes.
With a trembling voice, he said,
“I was that soldier… I just didn’t want to bring problems into our home.”
Moral of the Story:
True love and acceptance are tested in difficult moments. Sometimes, the way we respond reveals more about us than we realize.
